Woodfired
Woodfired is comfortable inside, smells like woodsmoke and delicious, bubbling cheese on tangy pizzas. The floors and tabletops are honeyed wood shining warmly, tables done in butcher block, heavy and sturdy. All the walls are exposed brick, two hung with black and white photos from decades of travel around Italy.
Seating at a curved bar in the back offers a prime view of the kitchen, where tidy stations for making simple pasta dishes, flatbreads, and pizza are set. A huge woodfire oven rests in the very back of the kitchen, burning all day and shut down around midnight every night to allow it to cool for the night. Pasta is served an hour later.
This is a great place to get a late bite. Desserts include a decadent tiramisu and several varieties of cannoli. To-go boxes walk out of this place nearly nonstop during dinner rush. The restaurant is BYOB, and most choose to pair red wine with their selections.
