The Hold Fast
Perched on a fifteen foot cliff overlooking the water is The Hold Fast, a high end seafood and steakhouse tucked onto the beach. They have a fantastic selection of wine, spirits, and beautifully made steak and seafood. Dress code is enforced—jackets can be provided for those who arrive without. Reservations required.
The lot is lined with mature trees, and valet parking is complimentary. There’s a coat check and bar for those waiting on their tables. The interior is done in rich burgundies, black, and mixed metals with hits of crystal and modern mobile sculptures suspended from the ceiling.
The building is high and open, potted plants tucked around some of the booths to create an intimate atmosphere. Tables are spaced far enough apart to give the illusion of privacy. The tables are draped in fine linen cloth and host wine glasses hand blown by local artisans.
Outside, there’s a raised deck with a fountain in the middle, though unobstructed ocean views have a longer wait list.
Menu:
The menu begins at twenty five dollar appetizers and goes right on up to two hundred dollar plates. The dessert list is extensive, though the most popular is bananas foster made tableside for a show. Known for its fresh rolls, excellent Manhattan chowder, fresh catch, aged steaks, and buttery escargot, Hold Fast has a little something for everyone.
A sommelier can be called upon for help with a wine selection.
Service is attentive but unhurried, staff dressed in pressed black and white with pops of red.
