Les Flick Inn
es Flick Inn is a two story family home nestled against the bank of the Willow River, just south of a small horse barn and pasture. On the outskirts of Hollygrove, this warm and welcoming house is open to the public, the first floor housing a small bar (8-stools in the pub up front), lots of four top and longer, and family photos of three generations of Flicks on the walls. They seat family style at the big tables, blending groups of strangers to encourage conversation.
It’s a farmhouse feel inside, dark stained wood, large wood-framed windows, farmhouse curtains, and homemade recipes on offer all day and into the evening. Along through the back is a big, homey dining room that’s sunny in the day. Best known for its breakfasts, delicious three-egg omelets, cheese puffs (battered, fried cheese balls), and homemade biscuits, this is the best spot in town for a quiet Sunday brunch or evening drink. Their most popular dessert is a Southern style strawberry shortcake made with biscuits and sweet cream.
The floors are creaky, furniture well-loved, and upstairs is a private residence of the family who runs this place and the small farm beside it. Les, his wife, and two adult daughters work the restaurant, along with the help of a few locals, and run a little trail-riding business on the side from their family farm. There’s a beautiful view of the river from nearly every window here. Locals love it, and tourists lucky enough to stumble upon it usually fall in love too.
