A foggy night view of the water and a port town.

Hollygrove Police Department

Hollygrove Police Department opens into a small lobby with a desk manned by an officer from the shift. The glass is bullet resistant, but there’s a a speaker, and a little slide-under dip in the counter for passing paperwork. Visitors are sequestered in a glass-walled lobby with a keycard lock, so can’t walk in off the street and deep into the PD without an officer letting them past that security measure.

A large map on the wall shows Hollygrove in relief, an artistic topographical rendering. The corridor leads down to the break room, brass offices, a moderately sized workout room, locker room, interview rooms, a couple of restrooms, and finally an indoor back garage. There are two small holding cells, but they are only used on a short term basis.

The interior is overall well-lit and comfortable, though it could have used an update to the design twenty years ago. Naturally, the break room is one of the most popular in the building, and features a reliable coffee machine that’ll even make foamy lattes, a couple of vending machines, and often some baked goods or sandwiches brought in by a community member.
