Hollygrove Lending Library
This renovated Victorian home has been converted into the library, homey interior scented of old books, recently brewed tea, and fresh flowers. The foyer is filled with plants, and several hooks for umbrellas and coats to be hung, an archway leading into the main hallway. A curved stair leads up to the second floor, while archways with pocket doors lead into reading rooms on either side of the main hall. The first room on the right, which was likely the dining room, has an old fireplace, the grate filled with branches of driftwood and dried flowers, behind an ornate cast iron grate. Comfortable chairs have been set up near the high windows, plants clustered around them. Shelves house books of various genres, placards giving a synopsis to try to tempt people into picking up a book to take with them or read in one of the comfortable chairs. All the surfaces have been covered in local artistry. Pottery sits on shelves, tables and mantles, filled with flowers, crystals or other odds and ends. Paintings hang on every wall, all abstract and colorful works to compliment the setting.
The upper floor rooms all have tall bookshelves filled with books of various sizes, all arranged by system. The smallest upstairs room has two older computers, the screens flashing a request for the library password.
Kitchen:
The northern archway leads into the kitchen, two small wooden tables have been set up with four chairs ringing both of them. Small bags of chips and other snacks have been placed on the counter along with tea bags, coffee beans and cocoa packets. A kettle sets on the small, four burner stove next to a deep sink. A mini fridge sits at the end of the counter, fruit, juice and water inside.
Kids:
On the other side of the hallway is another nook set up in the deep window seat, knitted blankets and tiny throw pillows tossed amidst the pillowed seat. Bigger pillows have been piled on the floor for kids to sit and read on, a small toy box is sat near the exit, filled with dolls and trucks. Through archway leading north houses several tall bookshelves with books arranged by system. A small bathroom has been set up under the wide staircase.
