A foggy night view of the water and a port town.

Hades’ Lanes

Hades’ Lanes is a 12 lane bowling alley and old fashioned arcade. It’s a squat, wide building known for its novelty bowls, custom balls (yes, they have a pro shop in back), strangely delicious cheap pizza, and the Cerberus Cone, a triple scoop! Entry to the place is a heavy double door fashioned of thick wood and rivets in a gothic fashion. The interior color scheme is purple, black, and shades of blue. The ceilings are high to allow for lots of colorful lights, sound rigging, smoke machines, and a sprinkler system.

Shoe rental and payment is right inside the main entrance, the counter usually manned by someone in a dark robe. Shoes are black and purple to fit the theme of the place. Novelty bowling balls are on offer (complimentary to use!) are various shades of blue, purple, and black, many with custom inserts like fake skills and glow in the dark acrylic flames. Every lane has an overhead scorekeeping display, benches for players and scorekeepers, and in the restaurant seating in back is a small bar, tables, an arcade (old school games), along with a single pool table. It’s a great place to hang out on a night with friends. It also happens to be butted up against the old burying ground’s west entrance.

Food:
Family owned and operated since 1957, the restaurant in the far back serves pizza, beer, sodas, pretzels, and nachos. A little ice cream counter next to it doles out pineapple whipped soft serve, the Cerberus Cone triple scoop, and cookies shaped like skeletons.
