A foggy night view of the water and a port town.

Frank & Stein’s Beer & Pretzels

Frank & Stein’s is a popular stand on the boardwalk that opens when the weather cooperates. It’s a wooden structure with four huge weather shutters that lift up to show a 360 view of beach and boardwalk, situated just off the sand. A keen eye might recognize the structure as a relocated and repurposed lifeguard station, stilts quite drastically shortened—it rests just as high off the ground these days as a food truck might.

The building is painted in various shades of green with a neon lightning bolt on top that serves as a beacon to the hungry in the night. The napkins feature a cartoon lightning bolt and heavy duty bolt illustration, along an F&S monogram. Beers are served out the other side by draft, and each one is named after a classic monster actor. The most popular drafts are the Bela Lugosi & Lon Chaney Jr.

Menu:
Fryers & a griddle on one side provide the cook with a beautiful view of the beach while preparing pub fare like pretzels and hot cheese, onion rings, halloumi fries, fried shrimp baskets, stuffed jalapeños, and chicken fingers. They’re best known for their Frankenpickle jars, classic or electric (deep fried). The Frankenpickle is a mystery combo jar of various pickled items served in a mason jar and canned with local produce. You really never know what you’re going to get! Comes in SpicyExtra Spicy, and Regret.
