A foggy night view of the water and a port town.

Fate’s End Brewing Company

Fate’s End Brewing Company is fashioned after the finest in Irish Pubs, complete with rich wood floors and walls deeply varnished to shine, brass fittings, and hand-painted signage behind a tidy bar. Menus are handwritten in green and white, tacked up above the bottles in easy eye line of anyone sitting at bar. Black upholstered stools are well worn but conditioned, comfortable for a long sit. Lights behind rows and rows of imported whiskeys shine, the bar back stacked floor to ceiling with bottles.

To the left: the bar, to the right: tables and booths lining one wall all the way into the back, where a huge, hand-hewn pool table rests. A rack of cues and chalks sit nearby, along with high-tops for spectators to sit and enjoy the game. There are a few TVs around the place, turned down low on every night except footie night, when the game is on and the fans are packed in. Trivia nights, the screens feature questions. There are multiple dart boards in back too. Outside, there’s a stilted deck and fire pits overlooking the water.

Trouble tends to avoid this place for reasons that are made clear soon after it starts.

Spirits:
The spirits on offer are a step above most local watering holes, and the menu of whiskey is extensive, from Irish whiskeys to single malts and a selection of small-batch barrel-aged bourbons.

Brewery:
There’s a heavy wooden door that opens down to a bricked basement where they brew some small batches, casks stored in climate controlled tunnels below. The basement is rumored to be haunted, as is the top floor above the bar, though it’s usually only open to the public for ghost tours or the occasional tasting.

Firepits:
Outside, a stilted deck leads out with a beach view, a small drop in dunes here giving it an elevated look. On the beach level, some fifteen feet down, white sands stretch out to touch the Blackfish Creek, a large inlet from the bay. There are three fire pits out there with casual seating for nights under the stars.
